1.3 Creating Presentations Using Gamma
What you’ll need:
Gamma is an online presentation builder that uses generative AI to build complete presentations, including text, visual elements, even image generation. To get started, use a free Google account email to sign up for Gamma.
You can use the following tutorial to guide you: How to create a new presentation, document, or webpage using Gamma AI
Build slides using Gamma:
Once you’ve become familiar with Gamma, take some time to build a presentation that you might use for teaching. Enter a prompt into the system that is detailed and specific. During the process, be mindful of what using the tool affords you, versus what might be lost in using a generative system uncritically to develop instructional materials.
Keep in mind:
Don’t simply use the system to generate slides without your interaction. You can edit slides before and after they are created. When you are doing so, ask yourself how accurate the material is for your audience.
Consider adding a label to your presentation to highlight that these slides were developed using AI. This helps promote transparency with your students and serves as an excellent teachable movement to model ethical and open usage of this technology.
Discussion:
